There has been a lot of hype around the Wii and the coming console release cycle. There have been reports of Peter Moore saying that gamers will buy two systems an Xbox 360 and a Wii. Then you have Sony saying people will prefer the PS3 and a Wii.

So it seems the console makers are ready and willing to accept that more people will buy Nintendo's Wii and I wholeheartedly agree. The Wii seems to be a more market penetratable system.

Firstly take a look at what you get for the assumed price of $250. you get a little system with fun games you grandmother can likely play as well as access to old legacy games Nintendo made and Sega Genesis and Turbo Graphix games. Each available for download for between $4 and $8 a piece. That's a lot of games to choose from. and with the different types of controllers available for add on it will make the system easily adaptable to different types of play.

However, the one thing that worries me about the system is the way devleopers will likely utilize the controller movement capabilities.

Of the launch titles that are coming out one is Madden NFL 2007. I am curious how much motion support will be included in the game and exactly how intuitive it will be to play with too much moving. Same problem with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Since it will be a 3D action game it may be hard to continually have to move the controller to keep the character going in the correct direction.

All is not lost however, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz seems to be the perfect game for this controller. the movement involved in the game should translate great to moving the controller back and forth to move the world. And their are a few other types of games that could work great with the concept.

In the past nintendo has seemed a little weird with the way they innovate but I think this time they really hit the nail on the head. Hopefully developers take advantage of the technology and use it well when needed instead of just attempting to use it because they can and botching their games.
